"I Sneezed into a Library Book"...

Well, this year's much hyped snowpacalypse was a letdown.  Only half a foot fell around this way, it was good enough for a Monday paid day off though.  It kind of surprised me when I came in to work on Tuesday to find out that only one circ person came in for the whole day.

With only myself and the branch manager closing, I was shunned to the circ desk.  It really isn't a big deal to me, but I know several librarians who absolutely detest working the circ desk.  In this day and age of "doing more with less" in the library, you just gotta roll up the sleeves on your cardigan and suck it up.

Checking books in and out reminded me of how disgusting library books can get.  I found myself reaching for the Purell every time I wasn't touching books or money from fines.  I found this gem under the circ desk.

A Library with a Sense of Humor...

by purechyzyken @ http://imgur.com/MTq6O
If you are not familiar with Rebecca Black's "Friday," I suggest you visit YouTube and turn your speakers up as loud as they can go.

Seems like this is a library I can have real fun working for.

If anyone is wondering where this picture was taken, it is from Baylor University's library.

Public Libraries = Bathroom for Homeless People.

My mind is a receptacle for useless movie and television quotes.
And thanks to 'Modern Family' I have another one to add to my library folder.

Claire:  What do you think the public library is for?
Haley:  I thought that was a bathroom for homeless people.

I wish 'Parks and Recreation' would come back on, they were always good for a library bashing.  Instead we have that stupid 'Outsourced' show.  No lie, I really did enjoy the movie, but the television show is just horrible.

I also like the Australian television series, 'The Librarians,' but I wouldn't want to see it become a mainstream show in the States for various reasons.  Most librarians I know do not have a, let's say open sense of humor and they take offense to anything that makes fun of the profession.  Have some humility people!  More importantly, anything that goes mainstream tends to "sell out" so to speak, and faces backlash.  Let's keep this library bashing on the down-low.

Oh, unless your IP address is in Australia you can't stream the videos.  But you people are librarians with librarian research skills, let's just say that there are ways to watch the series.

Passive Aggressive Librarians with Printers on the Rampage

The secret's out.  There is another stereotype for librarians out right now, passive aggressiveness.

To celebrate National Library week, Buzzfeed collected 20 Passive Aggressive Library Signs.  If I knew they were looking for contributions, I could have added another 20 to that.

Here's to National Library Week!

Punk Ass Book Jockeys

I LOVE NBC's Thursday night line up.  How can you not, with "Parks and Recreation," "The Community," "The Office," and "30 Rock," all in one night.

I missed watching last Thursday because I was watching a German opera (not as exciting as it sounds.)

But I Hulu'd all of the shows and I laughed so hard during "Parks and Recreation" s02e08.

They bash the library, what's not to like about that!?

Sick Librarian Humor, I Gots It

I was working on the afternoon 'Holds-List' when I scanned one book and it was being transferred to a neighboring branch.

It was for a "Lee, Sara" and the book was 'Martha Stewart's Wedding Cakes.'

Am I the only one who finds it funny that a Sara Lee is reading Martha Stewart's Wedding Cakes?

sigh
I need a new job...
